Stop having meetings
Rarely does anything “real” ever happen in meetings. Ask yourself, if a person couldn’t come to this meeting, could you just fill them in later? If yes, do something more productive with your time that yields real results.
Plan less, do more
“Most people talk a lot, few are up for the moment.”
Things never go according to plan, so why expend the effort? You can almost always be working on some real piece of the project today… focus on that part now and worry about the rest later, you will see “real” results much faster.
Awards mean nothing
Most business awards (e.g. “Best places to work…”, “Most innovative…”) are meaningless. They are usually given to companies that applied for them, citing tons of esoteric marketing materials. All that matters to us is whether or not our products make auditors happier and more productive.
